Bringing inline community together to promote inline
We believe Saturday 24th of July 2010 will be seen as a great step forward for Inline Hockey in Ireland. For the first time ever, the whole inline community assembled at one event to work together to help promote inline hockey.
Clubs from all around Northern Ireland assembled at the University of Ulster Family Fun Sports Day, an event held to mark two years until the start of the London 2012 Olympics.
All types of sports were representative at the event and Love Hockey Ireland is very proud for its role in helping bring the hockey community together for the day.
Players from East Coast Blaze (Belfast) Belfast City Bruins (Belfast) Armagh Stars (Armagh) Northern Cyclones (Bangor) and the Bangor Chiefs (Bangor) took part in an exhibition game to demonstrate the sport to the public.
Later in the day a penalty shot competition was held with 16 kids taking part to win tickets to a Belfast Giants ice hockey game. There were three lucky winners, who all won two free tickets to a Giants game.
This was a tremendous networking event for Love Hockey Ireland as we got to meet so many different organisations, and already we have held meetings with some of these groups to discuss how our organisation can work with each other in the future.
We would like to publicly thank the Players from all the different clubs for giving up their Saturday afternoon to help promote hockey, your support is essential to the long term development of the sport.
We would also like to thank the University of Ulster for being such great hosts, and to all our volunteers who made the event possible.
